Logistic Coordination As is usual in other sectors, bauserve sees to it that on construction sites the scanty logistic resources are properly administered. The race for space and transport is not won by the stronger or the faster, but by the section which needs it most for the next construction phase.
Starting in the planning phase we help to draw up the site equipment allocation plan, contributing the know-how we have on efficient processes. Otherwise it would be we ourselves who would later have to suffer the consequences of below-par conditions. Thus the construction site itself, as happens in brick-and-mortar industrial facilities, is provided with a layout planning custom-made for specific building phases. Getting this established at an early stage means costs are saved; it also shows the subcontractors how good the conditions will be for them to do their specific job.
However, it is not only the construction site logistics that have to be coordinated. Neighbors and public transport are also often expected to make sacrifices during the construction period. In most cases it is possible to gain acceptance and tolerance from those affected using few and simple means: good communication, competent control of building processes, the keeping of promises. We thought it would be much worse is a sentence we often hear, and it reflects the relief felt at the success of our efforts.
The results of such coordination are as follows: well-balanced utilization of resources, less material stacked and blocking the way on escape routes, less material loss, damage and accidents on the construction site. It also creates the conditions and space needed for the real decisions and management duties performed on the site: from the monitoring of construction work to quality controls and the actions to be taken in case of workflow stoppages. |
